Formaldehyde (CH₂O) is a colorless, flammable, strong-smelling chemical that is used in building materials and to produce many household products... It can cause irritation of the skin, eyes, nose, throat, and even cancers.
Formaldehyde levels are higher in:
(1) Homes with smokers.
Smoke contains formaldehyde. If someone in your home smokes, the smoke may be the greatest source of formaldehyde in your home.
(2) Homes with New decoration.
Formaldehyde levels are higher in newly built or newly renovated homes, especially wooden furniture, soft cloth ornament, pain wall.
In general, these products will emit less and less formaldehyde over time. However, it can take weeks, months or even years to stop completely.
(3) Summer Time
In summer, the temperature is high, the adhesive has been decomposed, and the decomposed formaldehyde molecules also have enough mobility to diffuse from the inside of the home items.
In summer, the humidity is high, and the water molecules are increased and active, which is easily transmitted to the home items, causing the adhesive to produce more deliquescence, thereby more free formaldehyde.
Traditional methods for removing formaldehyde (HCHO) from the environment including the following ways:
(1) Ventilation
The release cycle of formaldehyde is long, usually three or even ten years to reach the normal standard.
(2) Plant deodorization
If you use plants to remove formaldehyde, you will almost fill the entire house. Moreover, the production of photosynthesis is conditional, but formaldehyde is continuously released.
(3) Activated carbon adsorption:
The adsorption capacity is very limited, it will volatilize again after the adsorption is saturated, and it needs to be replaced continuously for a long time.

(1) UV LED Strip: UVC
UVC will destroy the DNA or RNA of the bacteria&viruses, making them inactive and unable to reproduce.
(2) UV LED Strip: UVA (405nm)
The light-sensitive molecules such as riboflavin in bacterial cells can absorb specific light energy in UVA to oxidize the cells to form active molecules such as OH-, O2-, 02, thereby damaging the cell wall.
(3) 5nm Photocatalyst Filter
Immobilizing TiO2 on an adsorbent material can upgrade and refine the HCHO removal efficiency.
Therefore, a TiO2/AC network film was designed by stuffing nanometer particle TiO2 on the surface of activated carbon, in order to eliminate HCHO effectively.
How does the UV sterilization process work?
1. Tio2 filter was irradiated by UV LED Strip (UVA+UVC), which will cause the Photocatalyst effect.
2. Under Photocatalyst effect, strong oxidizing agent OH+ is produced.
3. OH+ start to surround and destroy harmful substances.
4. All carbon-based organisms, including bacteria, viruses, smoke, formaldehyde, pollen, mites etc, will be disintegrated into H2O & CO2.
5. For harmful substances not killed by TiO2, UV LED (UVA+UVC) will offer supplementary function.
Therefore, the UV LED technology can achieve a 99.93% sterilization rate and 89.1% degradation formaldehyde rate.
